Letting in the light(s)

I just had to share what a difference good lighting makes!

Let me first say that Rich really knows his stuff and I am eternally grateful for the hours of knowledge he shared electrifying my space!!  He installed standard industrial florescent fixtures but the bulbs are Phillips Natural Light.  It is like daylight in there 24/7, so different from the yellow cast of incandescent.  Another plus side of these...they are good for 30,000 hours.

and how about all those happy outlets!!!  I can get to work now. This is just one of 4 locations Rich installed for me.  The small single outlet is a dedicated line for my toaster oven, so when I am baking up my polymer clay I won't see the lights dim every time it cycles... whoo-hoo.

There is still lots to do, like a new plywood slab for the workbench to replace the one that is warped.  I've also eye-spied an fantastic workbench at harbor freight..trying to decide it it is worth the expense.  Lastly, I need more shelves, thinking I can add some where there is pegboard but the details are sketchy.

Hopefully all this hard work will come out in an overflow of creativity!

Anticipation

Wanted to quickly share this button swap/blog hop being hosted by Sweet Bead Studio.  Interested?

Studio electric needs a bit more time, it's a big job.  There were no outlets in the space and only 2 light fixtures.  Since November I had been running an extension cord from the finished portion of the basement into my room, this was a temporary fix with ill effects...like blowing the fuse every once in a while.
I eagerly accepted the help of Debbie's husband to do the work (which I am sure he is now regretting). I love how thorough he is...he did calculations as too how many light fixtures I needed and decided how many dedicated circuits were best. We are doing the work together and I'm trying to learn a little as we go. Unfortunately it all takes time and the pictures show our progress.  Maybe one more day will do it...just not sure when that day will be...you know how life goes...right?

Too Long Away

What does this young man climbing a utility pole have to do with anything? Don't know... ^shrug^... maybe I have electric on the brain.

Let me start here...I totally lost February!!!  I was sick with weird persistent germs...strep, sinus infection, ear aches and such. Got healthier just in time to spend two weekends in Perry Park with my favorite scrapbooking gals.  Then March came blowing in with an odd warmth, all of a sudden projects I thought I'd be starting in April are begging to be done now.  I've spent the last few sunny days clearing the backyard of branch piles and trying to get grass seed down.  I won't even venture into the crazy family issues, cause I'd scare you all away.

Lets just say I'm almost out of the hole.  New projects on the horizon, upcoming classes (yes I am teaching again), and a newly 'electrified' studio...pictures tomorrow!
